Karly was a hairdresser who helped young trans people where she could. The cirumstances of her killing are not known.
It is with immense sadness and regret that we inform you of the passing of our beloved Karly, who lived in the Nazaré neighborhood near the Judith Bezerra de Melo school.
We have received information that her wake and burial took place yesterday (November 9th).
Karly was assisted by our food basket distribution program during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was a hairdresser, a follower of Candomblé, and over 60. She helped many transgender teenagers and young adults by answering their questions and finding work in her salon.
Here is our tribute to this trans woman who did so much for her community!
